Helen G. Lyons was born on September 28, 1919 in Joliet, IL and passed away on March 8, 2016 in Denver, CO. Mrs. Lyons was born Helen Glass, was raised in Joliet and attended Catholic primary and high schools there. She received her Bachelor's degree from St Francis College in Joliet and her Master's degree from Lewis University in Lockport, IL. She was a special education teacher in the Will County public school system until her retirement. In 1945, she married the late Michael Lyons of Chicago, an attorney and later Will County Associate Judge. They lived in Joliet and raised six children : James Lyons, (Marcia) Denver, Colorado; Tom Lyons (Carol) , Neenah, WI; Joan Lyons DiCola (Jack), Winter Park, CO; Dyanne Lyons Wooldridge, Aurora, CO; Robert Lyons (Priscilla) , Boston, MA; and John Edward Lyons (deceased). After her husband's death in 2006, Mrs Lyons relocated to Denver to be near her Colorado resident children and grandchildren. She lived at Park Place and enjoyed her good friends and local activities, especially time with her family, visits to the mountains and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to her five surviving children, she is survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection will be at her home parish, St Paul the Apostle, in Joliet, Illinois on Wednesday, March 16 at 10:00 am. Mrs. Lyons will be buried next to her husband and late son at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL.
