Helen M. Mayhew, born March 2, 1916 in Potwin, Kansas to Orrin and Suzanne Moore, passed away June 7, 2005. Married Jay Mayhew August 3, 1938. Helen attended Kansas State Univ. where where she earned a degree in Home Economics, learned to pilot a bi-plane and met her husband of 67 years. While living and raising a family in Moab, she started a business selling jewelry and Navajo blankets. She was a den mother, Girl Scout Leader, national president of Dames Club, active member of PTA and Beta Sigma Phi. She was an avid golfer, polished bridge player, artist, musician, photographer, and damn good cook. She was as comfortable conversing with urbanites about the symphony as she was with a cowboy in a hot dusty corral castrating calves. Helen was a fun, interesting person of many talents with many friends who will miss her. Survived by children, Jack (Carol), Bob (Julie), Allen (Donna) Mayhew. 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S.
