Helen Elaine Smith

Mrs. Helen E. Smith, age 106, passed away Thursday morning, July 25, 2019 at the Castle Rock Assisted Living and Home Care facility in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Helen was born October 13, 1912 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of the late Joseph and Ethel Elliott. She graduated from Jackson High School in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1931. She also met her future husband at Jackson, Colletus M. Smith whom she married in 1942. They had one child Barbara J. Bulmer. Both Colletus (1986) and Barbara (2009) preceded Helen in death.

Helen began working at an early age in her family owned soda shop and worked many other interesting jobs which included, a bar hostess/waitress, a dress shop associate on the Pearl street mall, and a store manager at the Goodwill store in Englewood, Colorado for many years. Helen also had a passion for dancing and the most amazing green thumb with beautiful flower and vegetable gardens surrounding her home. She had a great sense of humor that many came to know and love. Besides Colorado, Helen lived in California, Nebraska and Missouri. Her biggest joy in life was her daughter Barbara and spent much of her time helping her family and friends however she could.

She is survived by her son-in-law Lynn M. Bulmer; grandchildren, Donald Bulmer (Linda), Michael Bulmer, and Jodi Dunn (Mark); great grandchildren, David Keller, Brandon Bulmer, Tyler Bulmer, Jacob Dunn, Katie Bulmer, Nathan Dunn, Joseph Dunn, Allie Bulmer and Lynae Dunn.

Service/reception will be held at 4:00 PM Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Horan & McConaty located at 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, Colorado.
