Helen Swanson

Born to Peter, immigrant of Serbia and Nellie, daughter of immigrant parents of the Ukraine, in the small coal mining town of Erie, Colorado. Helen grew up there until graduation from Erie High School in 1946. She briefly attended the University of Colorado Boulder where she met Carl Robert Swanson. They were married in 1950, the same year Robert graduated with BS in Civil Engineering there.

Married for 58 years, the family lived and moved in Colorado, Minnesota (where Diane was born), Missouri, Delaware, New Jersey and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he oversaw various bridge and roadway projects. Helen and Bob enjoyed traveling throughout the US and other countries during their years together While living in New Jersey, Helen returned to school and completed an AA in Humanities and an AA in Business at County College of Morris. Upon graduation, she worked at Picatinny Arsenal as a Technical Writer until retirement in 1991. Helen and Bob lived a very happy live until Robert’s death in 2008.

In 2010 Helen married Robert Reginer, her high school sweetheart. They lived together at Covenant Village for 5 years, until his death in 2015. While at Covenant Village, Helen continued to stay active participating in many programs and activities there. She especially enjoyed interviewing CVC staff and writing the interviews in The Village Post.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Helen Diane Fornoff (Jeffrey Marc), Milford, PA; granddaughter Jennifer Marie Keating (Daniel), Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandson Jonathon Marc Fornoff (Jessica Reed) of Boston, MA.

Visitation Friday, March 6, 2020, 2:00-3:30 pm. Funeral Service 3:30 pm. Both at Horan & McConaty, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003. Reception to follow service. Interment Saturday, March 7, 2020, 11:30 am, Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge.
