Helen Margaret Treitz

Helen Margaret Treitz passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 – her 96th birthday – with children and grandchildren by her side, at the Johnson Center in Centennial, Colorado. Helen was born on May 24, 1917 in Chicago to the late Patrick and Catherine (O'Keefe) O'Shea. In 1940 she married Joseph Treitz, who preceded her in death in 1993. Helen spent much of her adult life in Denver, Colorado where she was a successful realtor. She enjoyed traveling with Joe, painting, and doing crafts. After her retirement she remained very active in her local community. Throughout the years, Helen loved playing games with family and friends and had a passion for bridge, bingo, and crossword puzzles. Helen is survived by her son Pat (Sue) Treitz of Denver; daughter Jan (John) Brittan of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Meghan Treitz, Amy Brittan, Brian (Rebecca) Treitz, and Laura (Dexter) Brigham; great-grandchildren Lily, Joey, and Clara Treitz, and Cullen and Jack Brigham; and sister Ann Spengler. A private memorial service celebrating Helen's life was held on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home.
