Henry Allan Charles

October 22, 1947 — August 15, 2019

Henry Allan Charles passed away on August 15, 2019. He was born in El Paso, Texas on October 22, 1947. He was preceded in death by his father John Oliver Charles Jr. and mother Faye Paige Ferguson and stepmother Betty Jo Charles.

Allan attended school in Mesilla Park, New Mexico and Lynn Junior High School in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Allan graduated from Las Cruces High School and attended New Mexico State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture.

Allan then served several years in the Peace Corps in the country of Jamaica. He taught many young people how to grow crops and raise animals, such as rabbits, chickens, etc. He loved working with the young people and assisting them in enhancing their capabilities. It was there that Allan met the love of his life, Cherry. After Allan's tenure with the Peace Corp., he and his wife, Cherry, returned to the state of New Mexico, where he continued teaching agriculture to students in Las Vegas, NM and Shiprock, NM.

Allan was most happy when he was teaching young people new talents and encouraging them to follow their passions. Allan continued his trek to enhance the activities he loved the most.

Allan loved his experience in the Peace Corps. He grew up working in the pecan orchards with his brothers, father and various work hands. His passion was teaching youth to grow and be stalwart.
