Henry ""Hank"" J. Coll

Henry “Hank” J. Coll, 88 died on May 25th Memorial Day 2020 following complications for an aortic valve replacement. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was a devout Catholic.

Hank was born October 13, 1931 to Katie and Henry Coll of Cardiff, Colorado. He attended Garfield County High School in Glenwood Springs, Regis High School in Denver and was awarded an athletic scholarship to Idaho State, Pocatello, Idaho. As an executive in the banking industry he and his family lived in Denver, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Plano, Texas. In 1977 he and his family moved to Parker, Colorado.

Following college he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Haneda Air Base, Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War. He was in the Special Intelligence Division of the Air Police and was personal escort for Francis Cardinal Spellman, Marilyn Monroe, Joe De Maggio and many other dignitaries.

Singing was his passion and after his discharge from the Air Force he attended The Lamont School Of Music at Denver University. Hank entered an audition for the Metropolitan Opera of New York and won first place. He entertained his fellow military personnel while in Japan and sang in many clubs in the Denver area. His first paying job was as a singing bartender at the Windsor Hotel in Denver. He sang in the choir at Ave Maria Catholic Parish in Parker, Colorado.

Beginning his career in banking and finance he was employed by Seaboard Finance in Denver, and was a lobbyist for the Colorado Consumer Finance of Colorado for several years. Next to Textron Corporation of New Port Beach, California in the Avco Financial Division for 28 years and retired as an AVP for the Northwest Area. Omni Bank contacted and hired Hank as President of the Omni Bank on Parker Road which received national awards every year as one of the top banks in the United States. In 1995 he joined the Community Bank of Parker. He finally retired permanently and enjoyed golf, traveling, fishing, hunting, cooking the best spaghetti sauce ever, sitting on the deck with a brandy, overlooking the beauty of Colorado, listening to Frank Sinatra. Heaven on Earth.

As a member of the Rotary Club of Parker he was awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship Award and was Rotarian of the year in 2007. Hank was past president of the Air Force Academy Quarterback Club, The High Prairie Farms Metro District, the Pastoral Council and received many awards from the Selective Service.

On June 13, 1959 he and Betty Ann Graff were married at the Basilica of St. John’s Catholic Church in Jamestown, North Dakota. For 60 plus years they built a home filled with love and support for their three children. Stephen Christian Coll of Castle Rock, Catherine Elizabeth Coll of Aurora, and Paul Anthony Coll (Sonia); their two grandchildren, Francesca Felice Coll and Angelo Christian Coll in Washington Park. He was so special to all of us.

Services for Hank will be at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Parker, Colorado, on June 5th, Friday. The Rosary will begin at 10:30am and the service will be at 11am. Registration with the church is mandatory and a link will be available later at the church website for registration. There is also a link for those who are not able to attend to watch.
