Henry G. Johnson

Henry Gustave Johnson passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007. He was a resident of Sunrise Senior Living at Orchard in Littleton, Colorado. Born September 10, 1923 in Hillsdale, New Jersey, he was a graduate of Park Ridge High School in Park Ridge, New Jersey. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Kidd from 1943 to 1945, and saw combat in the South Pacific. He attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. He married Joan Anne Rittenhouse in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1969. They had one daughter, Robyn Ann Johnson Alsop, of Centennial, Colorado. A long time resident of Westwood, New Jersey, he married Joan Branda in 1970, residing in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey for over 30 years. An architect, he practiced in northern New Jersey for 50 years, first as a partner in Holley & Johnson Architects, and then as Henry G. Johnson, AIA, Architects, in Wyckoff, New Jersey, retiring in 2001. He lived in Adamstown, Maryland until late 2001, when he moved to Colorado in late 2004 to be near his daughter, Robyn, and her husband, Daniel. He is survived by his wife, Joan Branda Johnson of Adamstown, Maryland; his daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Daniel Alsop of Centennial, Colorado; his stepdaughters, Elizabeth Branda Hill and Joyce Branda Reed and their families, along with many extended family members across the country. A memorial service will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, January 11th at 11:00 A.M. The family requests donations be made to the Colorado Alzheimer's Association in his name. Interment to follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.
