Henry Stephen Rickert, 86, of Evergreen, Colorado passed away January 3, 2023.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Magdalene (née Raaymann) and by his sister, Helen Clemente.

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Hannelore, his children Jean Wilson (David), John (Andrea), and William (Rebecca Rachlin), plus his 7 grandchildren:  Julianne (Wesley McAhren), Kathryn (Brock Burke) and Ryan Wilson; Henry and William Rickert; and Elizabeth and Cooper Rickert.  He is also survived by his nephews Richard and Robert Dale (Sandra) and their children William, Stephen (Cate), Joseph, and Malese.

Steve was born in the Bronx and raised in Flushing Queens, New York, and prided himself as a true New-Yorker.  After graduating from St Francis Preparatory High School, he served 4 years with the United States Navy and received an Honorable Discharge.

After graduating from Queens College, Steve entered the financial industry and was on the forefront of Information Technology, working as a programmer on the early-model IBM computers.

Steve and Lorie moved their family to Huntington, NY, in 1972 to provide Jean, John, and Billy better educational and social opportunities.  He commuted to lower Manhattan and Chase Manhattan Bank, where he occupied an office on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center until he and Lorie moved overseas to begin the next chapter of their lives.  First stop was Kuwait, where Steve was a project manager installing the country’s first ATM Network.

In 1987, Steve and Lorie moved to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where Steve was employed by SAMA, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency. They remained there until retiring to Evergreen in 2001. Living abroad provided them the opportunity to explore 33 different parts of the world previously thought to be out of reach such as Thailand, Turkey, the Maldives, Singapore and Greece.  The artifacts from their travels, notably a collection of beautiful carpets, will be treasured by their family for generations.

Steve was a devoted husband and father, and in later years a doting, dedicated grandfather who took great pleasure from family gatherings, particularly at Christmas. He will be remembered for his love of books and movies, his knowledge of world history, his extensive music collection ranging from country to classical, and for his sense of humor, which despite his health challenges, persisted to the very end.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 14th at 11am at Christ The King in Evergreen, CO.  Following, Steve will be laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
