Herbert Richard Bigalk of Aurora, CO, went home to be with the Lord December 20, 2008 after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was 79. Herb was born April 6, 1929, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On October 11, 1952 he married Marilyn Dathe in a beautiful ceremony in Milwaukee. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs. After his discharge, he brought his family back to Colorado, living in Littleton, CO and later moved to Aurora, CO for the rest of his life. Herb received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University Of Wisconsin and did master's degree work at Marquette University and the University of Colorado. He was a member of the Colorado Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. He held positions in private industry and the Federal Government as a systems accountant. As an entrepreneur, he owned two car washes in Aurora and an Ace Hardware store in Denver. Herb's hobbies included flying as a private pilot, fly fishing and camping. He enjoyed tying his own flies, his model train and working on his lathe. He was a handyman who could fix anything. Herb was a warm, friendly person with a wonderful sense of humor and well-liked and respected by his friends and colleagues. Herb was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Marilyn, daughters Joan Layburn (Bob) of Aurora, CO, Susan Colvin (Christopher) of Colorado Springs, CO and grandchildren, Bobby, Adam, Brian and Christa. Services will be held Monday, December 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014.
