Herman C. Haering, 76, passed away at University of Colorado Hospital on Monday, February 21, 2011. Born and raised in Clifton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Karl and Marie Haering. He attended Newark College of Engineering, received his Architectural Certificate and was licensed in New Jersey, New York, and Colorado. As an independent architect, Herman designed many residences, schools, and churches and was the Construction Administrator at Ortho Pharmaceuticals, Bridgewater, New Jersey. An avid horseman, sharpshooter and skier, Herman decided to move from New Jersey to Breckenridge, Colorado in 1993. He continued to design homes in Summit County until his retirement in 2008. Herman was actively involved in the Breckenridge community. He served on the Town of Breckenridge Planning Commission from 1995-2006: the Summit County Sign Review Commission from 1997-2003, and the Board of Adjustments from 1997-2007. Herman served in the United States Army and the United States Army Reserves from 1957 to 1963. Stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, Herman's assignments took him to Fort Lewis, WA and Ladd Air Force Base, Alaska as a construction draftsman. He was honorably discharged and received the Good Conduct Medal. Herman is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Dolores Gavazzi Haering. He was loved by his family and huge community of friends and will be missed.
