Denver

Hillary Aubert Christopher Massey was born October 21, 1954 in Denver, Colorado to George and Verene Massey, He was one of 4 children from this union.

He enjoyed spending time with his close knit family and extended friends on summer nights and holidays at the home of his sister. He looked forward to this potluck style of fellowship, fun, and food. Never showing up (or leaving) empty handed and was always full of laughter and entertainment.

Hillary’s love for social and community, yielded frequent visits to a few local establishments. One in particular has significant purpose, Fat Boyz, where he met his wife Suzanne “SueBee”. May 5, 2008 Hillary and Sue were married in Las Vegas, NV. Prior to this union, Hillary was a proud father of his loving daughter, Marie Diane “Bunnie” Be Lue of Port Saint Luice, FL and Son Michelin Massey of Washington D.C.

Hillary’s love for food and fellowship allowed him to work and assisted his best friend Jeff, at Backstreet, as a manager. In addition, some of his favorite places to visit were Highline Lounge, to watch the Denver Broncos games, Nightshift Saloon, Hero Bar and Grill, and Majestic Saloon, where he actively participated in Karaoke.

Hillary has a gifted voice. Many of you have heard it while singing Karaoke. Hillary was a trained singer as a youth. He sang in a variety of choirs, including a competition choir. Hillary was not shy, actually enjoyed the spotlight, and he received a standing ovation as he sang lead for this choir, displaying his vocal range of “Oh Holy Night.”

His spirit of fun competition was displayed while he participated in several bowling and softball leagues. He also loved to cook. He was known for and received numerous requests for his green chili burritos.

Hillary’s love for Christ was instilled at an early age. He attended Loyola Catholic School  until High School, in which he graduated from Manuel High School. He continued his education at University Of Colorado, earning a Bachelor degree. His studies prepared him for a 25 year career with (DFSA) Defense Accounting and Financial Services at Lowey Air Force Base. After retiring he continued to do taxes, and few hospitality jobs. He was still employee with US Bank during his passing.

Sue Bee brought so much joy to his life, that Vegas became his favorite destination. They would often return to recant the joys of their union, and to enjoy everything Vegas had to offer. He was an avid poker, blackjack, and craps player. From Vegas, to Denver, and even at the family events, Hillary was always up for a game or two of BINGO! He would provide his own entertaining twist to the game, (stand up if you don’t have a number, and new rule to win BINGO).

Hillary was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, brother in law, cousin, uncle, nephew. He is preceded in death by parents George and Verene, brother Jerome,  aunt Thelma, cousin Verene “Vikki.” He leaves to celebrate his life, wife Sue, daughter and son in law Marie and Clarence Be Lue, son Michelin Massey, sister and brother-in-law Patricia “Pat” and Carl Crayton, brother and sister in-law Rodney and Laurie Massey, aunt Cynthia Williams, and cousin Thelma “Cleta” Ayers. He leaves a legacy for a variety of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
