Howard Edward Pelerine (Howie), age 75, tragically died at approximately 11pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024 due to being the victim of a hit and run accident. He was born May 2, 1949 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Howie is predeceased by his parents, Adele and Howard Pelerine, and his only sister Kathleen Schneider.
Howie served honorably in the United States Army and Navy during the Vietnam War, 1969-1973. In the mid 1990’s he moved to the Boulder area and enjoyed being close to nature, calling this place home for the last decades of his life. He loved the ocean, all animals, being outdoors, a simple lifestyle, antique shops, Celtic music and was an avid coin collector. He lived a health-conscious life and in his youth ran the Boston marathon. Howie was a kind, generous, gentle man whose upbeat nature affected many. He grew up in the Catholic faith and his life continued to be guided by a deep spiritual connection.
He is survived by his nieces, Karen Schneider of Oakland, CA and Nancy Ellis of Kalispell, MT; nephew, Ed Schneider of Vero Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Pete Schneider of Wellington, FL, as well as multiple cousins, extended family and friends. Beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, he will be missed by all. A military funeral honors ceremony will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on November 12, 2024 at 12:30pm.
