Hugh Winfield Hill, of Aurora and Denver died on February 12, 2016, he was 91 years old. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy and son-in-law Steven Franze. He is survived by his daughters, Leonora Hill & Claudia Franze; his sister, Ruth Wilber; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as his loving caregivers. Hugh was a retired USAF civilian employee and a free-lance commercial pilot. Hugh was a graduate of East High in Denver. He attended the University of Denver, American University, Washington D. C., and the Air University, Montgomery, AL. He was a World War II Army Air Corp Veteran. In 1958 he led a small group of civilian and military personnel at the Air Force Reserve Personnel Center who designed and implemented one of the first large scale digital computer systems in the region. A life-long aviation enthusiast he flew for many of the aircraft operators throughout the western states. During the Viet Nam conflict he served as a Draft Board Chairman for the Selective Service System. He was a member of the Denver Federal Executive Board, the Colorado Medical Services Board, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Aircraft Owners & Pilot's Association, the Silver Wings Fraternity, Bombardiers, Inc., and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.
