Hugh passed away, surrounded by family, on December 12, 2019. He was born in Denver, Colorado, served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 45 years.
Hugh and his wife of 66 years, Mary (Chase), raised six children: Hugh, Jr. (Janalee), Michael (Teri), Lou Ann (Peter), John (Rennea), Daniel and Edward (Gail). He was the proud grandfather of Peter (deceased), Mary Kate, Mark, Kevin, Samuel, Clare, Patrick, Samantha, William, Amy, Joe and Brian. He was the joyful great-grandfather of Adelaide, Lucy, Stevie, Anson and Kolby Ann.
He was a brother to Daniel J. Hogan and Katherine H. Hallstrom (deceased). He is survived by a brother- and sister-in law, numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends.
Hugh was well-loved and will be remembered for his quick wit, open heart, service to others and suspenders.
Family and friends will meet to recite the rosary on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 7:00pm in the chapel at Horan & McConaty, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd. Denver, Colorado 80246.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on December 20, 2019 at 11:30 at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 2301 York Street, Denver, Colorado.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 2:15pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Meet at staging area C, 15 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Hugh's honor to Catholic Charities Samaritan House, 6240 Smith Rd. Denver 80216.
