Ilga Skila Tyler

December 5, 1945 — November 23, 2018

Ilga passed away in the arms of her three daughters and her husband after a brief illness. Born in a displaced persons camp in Jever, Germany, after her parents escaped from Latvia, she emigrated to the U.S. in 1950 and journeyed to Oakland, CA. Growing up in Santa Rosa, CA, she was a ballerina dancing with the San Francisco Opera Company until heading to San Jose State.

Years were spent working at The Lark, before becoming a part owner, which she sold shortly before the birth of her first two grandchildren. She became the “Moving Mom” who would help her daughters move from house to house or country to country. Her adventurous spirit took her to six of the seven continents. Ilga was an avid tennis player for many years and enjoyed her investment, garden and book clubs. In recent years, one of her favorite past times was competitive bridge with friends and family.

She is survived by John, her husband of nearly 48 years, her daughters Katherine (Brad), Kresta (Todd), Sophie (Ben) and her seven glorious grandchildren, whom she, Mimi, loved more than life itself.

A Celebration of Life will be at 11 AM Thursday, November 29, 2018 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1270 Poplar St., Denver.
