Imelda DeGraw

December 18, 1924 — April 10, 2008

Imelda passed peacefully April 10, 2008, after a rich and full life. She is survived by daughter Marni and sons Stephen (Penny) and Robert (Mary); grandchildren Kristi, Ryan, David, Antonia, Elizabeth and Lauren; great-grandson Tobias. Born Dec. 18, 1924, the only daughter of Harold and Irene Gatton of Iown City, Iowa. She went on to journalism studies at the University of Iowa. Imelda enjoyed a long career in the fashion and journalism industries with such companies as Lipmann Wolf, Meyer & Frank, White Stag and Jantzen. She was Fashion Coordinator of Macy's California, Editor of The Orgeon Journal and Bureau Chief of Fairchild Publications. She was a long time member of The Fashion Group, former President of Costume Society of America, Region VII, member of The Textile Society of America. She enjoyed a 25 year career as Curator of Costumes and Textiles and The Denver Art Museum, where she was the recipient of four grants from The National Endowment For The Arts. She acted as a Lecturer, Coordinator, Guest Curator, and Author in the United States and Japan. Imelda touched the lives of many and will be missed. A Celebration of Her Life will be held, Monday, May 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at 111 Emerson Street, Denver, CO 80218. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 5005 LBJ Fwy, Ste 250, Dallas, Texas 75244 or Porter Hospice at The Johnson Center, 5020 E. Arapahoe Rd., Centennial, CO 80122.
