Inez Mae Schaffer, of Denver Colorado, passed away on May 24, 2022 at 92.
Inez was born July 9, 1929 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Conrad and Ruth (Brownell) Greenwald. She had two brothers and three sisters.
Inez graduated from South High School lettering in softball. She was a competitive roller skater. Inez worked at Gus’ bakery and as an usher at the Jewel Theater before meeting and marring Howard F. Schaffer, a ball player at Overland Park Softball field. Later she worked and retired from the Denver Election Commission.
Inez enjoyed camping, was an avid sports fan who loved watching and following the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. She also enjoyed crocheting blankets for special occasions and adored making personalized blankets in any colors upon request.
As a stay at home mother, she made long lasting friendships with the neighbors as they raised their children. Involving herself with the PTA and Girl Scout Troops.
Survived by her sister Betty Carron of Denver, Colorado. Her five children: Jackie Schaffer of Lakewood, Colorado. Patti Jones of Englewood, Colorado. Barbara Schaffer of Denver, Colorado. Chuck Schaffer of Omaha, Nebraska and Greg Schaffer of Northglenn, Colorado. She is survived by 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 5 great, great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in her death, her husband Howard F. Schaffer, and one grandchild Michelle.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 beginning at 4:00PM until 7:00PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado.
A Vigil Service honoring Inez will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 10:00AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado. Interment to follow at 12:00PM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
