Iola Mcmurray

Iola Cheyenne Mc Murray (Fassler) age 99, died peacefully of natural causes at Shalom Park in Aurora, CO on July 17th, 2022.

Born October 7th, 1922 in Hastings, Nebraska, she lived in Denver, CO and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad as an administrative assistant for 35 years.    After Iola retired from BNR she began working at The University of Denver in the Women’s College where she worked as office manager for  several more years.  Iola belonged to several service organizations including being a board member of DU Lamont Society, Women’s Library Board at DU and Denver Opera Guild.  Early in her life Iola was an avid golfer, gardener and painter.  Besides her many activities Iola was devoted to her five dogs that she had throughout her life. In her seventies while working at DU’s Women College she enrolled in the University and received her Bachelor and Masters degrees.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews as well as grand nephews and nieces. Iola was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Myrtie Fassler as well her sisters Ida Merkel, Yvonne Pens, Ruby Hanna, Iva Corry, and Zelma Fassler.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, August 11th, at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014. Interment will be at Cloverton Cemetery in Blue Hill, NE.
