Irene Guise Aspinwall, aka ""Goose,"" 91, World's Best Wife, Mom, Grandma, short-order cook, and friend; who absolutely loved to laugh passed away peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by her family on July 6, 2015. She was born on June 13, 1924 and was raised on a wheat farm in Brewster, KS. However, due to the the ""Dust Bowl,"" and the Depression, Irene was sent to school in Denver, and graduated from South High in 1942. While attending CU in Boulder, CO, Irene was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority, where her sisters and lifelong friends affectionately named her ""Goose."" She also met her future husband Jim at CU, when he returned from fighting overseas during WWII. She earned a bachelor's degree in business, (as well as her ""MRS""), and married James W. Aspinwall, that summer, in 1946. Irene and Jim proceeded to make their permanent home in Denver, where they made a healthy contribution of 8 children to the ""Baby Boom."" Along with her husband of 62 years, (until his death in 2008), Irene played an active role in politics, her church, and in her community. She was a woman of enormous faith, and many of her friends called her a ""prayer warrior."" She was completely devoted to her entire family, which grew to include 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grands (so far)... Irene will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, sharp wit, sympathetic ear, beautiful smile, infectious laugh, kind heart, and generosity. She is survived by her children: Suzy (Ted) Gill of Centennial, Mary (Phillip) of Tacoma, WA, Tom ( Fiona) of Parker, Jim (Diane) of Denver, Bob (Cady) of Taos, NM, John (Colleen) of Dallas, TX, Annie of Aurora, and Katie of Denver. Grandchildren: Tyler, Sam, Nick, William, Alison, Lara, Sarah, Victoria, Anthony, Ashley, Sean, Zoe, Briana, Taylor, Max, Lena, and Kelly. And 3 great-grandchildren: Jack, Madeline, & Sofia. All are invited to attend the committal ceremony to be held at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area ""B"", 2:30 PM, Monday, August 31, 2015 followed by a memorial celebration of Irene's life at The Wellshire Inn, 3333 S. Colorado Blvd. Denver, CO 80222 at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to: The Irene G.
