Mom, Grandma Irene, passed away peacefully at Morningstar Senior Living Center on Sunday, February 23rd, 2020 at the age of 94.
She was the daughter of Emma and Arthur Kreysche,
Born and raised in Sommerfeld, Germany to Emma and Arthur Kreysche, she survived World War 2, eventually coming to America with 1 child and her mother to be naturalized in America in 1952.
She was greatly loved by her children, Pete (Fay) Keller, Christine (Don) Scott and Wolfgang Lemm; grandchildren, Duane (Paula) Keller, Colleen Canterbury, Diane (Josh) Richards, and April Scott; great-grandchildren, Julianne (Christopher) Canterbury, Aaron Canterbury, Zachary Richards, Emily Richards and Christopher Richards, and several cousins and other loving relatives remaining in Germany.
Being very independent and hard working, our grandmother was kept busy for many years as a cashier on several military bases around the U.S.
Once retired, she began her second career as an Avon Representative, where she was well known and admired for over 40 years for her work until age 91.
Grandma loved her German heritage and listening to German and Celtic music. She was also an avid figure skating, golf, Rockies, and Broncos fan, always interested in watching their performances on T.V.
For decades, she spent countless hours also visiting friends and relatives over lunches and attending Church at the Heather Gardens Chapel as often as she could.
She was as determined as she was independent, and we always knew what she wanted and where she stood on things. We will miss her dearly.
Special thanks to the loving staff at Morningstar Senior Living of Arvada, caregivers Andrea and Betty of Pristine Home Healthcare, and the wonderfully loving and devoted care of Emma and others at Colorado Palliative Hospice who provided invaluable care to Grandma over her last year's transition of life.
Her cremated remains are buried at Fort Logan National Cemetery alongside the remains of Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Padavic, who was her devoted husband for many years.
A Remembrance Memorial will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 1pm at Heather Gardens Clubhouse (in the Aspen Room), 2888 S. Heather Gardens Way, Aurora, Colorado 80014.
