Irmgard Schaefer

Irmgard Schaefer, age 97, passed away on March 9, 2023. She was born on July 24, 1925 in Russia to parents Rosina and Eduard Stregger.

During World War II, Irmgard, her mother, and three siblings were able to escape from Russia to Germany where she met and eventually married Edmund Schaefer. Irmgard, with husband, Edmund and their two young daughters, immigrated to the US from Germany in 1951. Settling in Denver, she learned English, became a US Citizen in 1958, and was able to receive her diploma as a hair stylist, shortly after starting her own successful business.

Irmgard will be greatly missed and is survived by her two girls;  Brigitte Collett (husband Bill) of Thornton, CO and Edie Ward (husband Geoff) of Cave Creek, AZ.; four grandchildren, Rebecca Reed, Bill Collett III (wife Joy), John Pearson (wife Susie), and Aaron Pearson, in addition to nine wonderful great-grandchildren; Alex Moore, Sophia Collett, Harrison Reed, Zachary Reed, Lauren, Lexi, Elle, Marko, and Isaak Pearson.

Funeral Services will take place at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227 at 11:00 AM on March 31st with a reception to follow at Concordia Lutheran Church, 13371 W. Alameda Pkwy., Lakewood, CO 80228 (303-989-5260) at 12:30 PM.
