Ivan Francis Williams, Jr, aged 71, died on September 11, 2020 in Greeley, Colorado. His death was due to complications of cancer.
Born December 5, 1948 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of Ivan Francis Williams of Mitchell, Indiana and Violet Lane McKelvey of Raleigh, North Carolina. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1967. Ivan enlisted in the USAF in 1968. He reenlisted in 1976 working in security and communications until his retirement in 1990. He retired as a Master Sergeant. During his service in the Air Force he was stationed at a variety of bases in Europe and in the United States. Upon retirement from the armed forces, he began his career with the United States Government. He provided emergency communication services for FEMA for 20 years before transferring to the Bureau of Reclamation, where he supervised communication services. He retired from public service in 2016. During his lifetime, he made many notable contributions to foreign and domestic efforts including: service to Vietnam, assisting with the clean-up efforts for many major natural disasters, and assisting with the clean-up efforts for the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
Survivors include: wife, Frances Williams; son, Ivan Williams III; daughter, Shannon Williams; granddaughter, Elaina Williams; sister, Winkle Nemeth; nephew, Will Nemeth; and nephew, Jack Nemeth.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2020 at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Ivan will receive a graveside service with full military honors. There will be a wake to follow the services, and it will be held at 16658 E. 13th Avenue, Aurora, CO 80011. Friends and family are welcome to attend both events.
Ivan was an avid animal lover, and donated to a variety of non-profits relating to the care and survival of animals. Accordingly, memorial contributions may be made to the Dumb Friends League, at .
