J. Mackey Dekle

J.Mackey Dekle, 70, of Littleton, CO. Husband of Shelia. Father of Reed Mackey Dekle, Scott Rollin (Cindy) Dekle and Jeremiah John (Jill) Dekle. Grandfather of Austin, Morgan, Taylor and Ella. Brother of Donna Matthews. Mr. Dekle was born in Lake City, Florida on February 19, 1936 where he grew up. In July of 1953 he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. Serving until July of 1956. He attained the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the Marine's he worked for Southern Bell Telephone Company as a lineman, installer and repairman. He left the phone company to become an apprentice embalmer and graduated from the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He Worked for the Wilson Funeral Home in Lake City, Florida for 3 years and then the Hardage Funeral Home in Jacksonville Florida. In February 1978, Mr. Dekle purchased the Wainwright Funeral Home. He owned and operated the Dekle-Wainwright Funeral Home in Kingsland, Georgia for 25 years until his retirement. Mr. Dekle maintained his Georgia and Florida State Mortuary License's even in retirement. He was a Member and past President of The Exchange Club & Lions Club. He served on the Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society of Camden County. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club, and was a Mason. Mr. Dekle has lived in Littleton for the past 4 years until his death on October 1, 2006.
