Jack Caldwell, 85 of Thornton. Funeral Mass Thursday 10:30AM at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 9371 Wigham Street, Thornton. Interment Fort Logan National Cemetery. Jack was born October 14, 1921 in Butte, MT. He married Mardell LaMere April 3, 1943 at Santa Ana Army Air Force Base, CA. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 but spent the major part of his Army career in the 1268th Engineer Combat Battalion. He served in several camps in the U.S. and European Theatre and was discharged December 15, 1945. He graduated from The College of Great Falls, MT and taught school in MT until 1951 when he and Mardell moved to Denver for treatment of her tuberculosis. She recoverd and they made their home in CO. Jack worked for the D.A.V. managing thirft stores and for American Canvas Co. His employment years were interrupted by heart problems. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and home improvement projects. Survivors include his wife Mardell, sister, Doris Fletcher of Modesto, CA as well as several nieces and nephews.
