Jack Dene Young was born on December 17, 1936, in Denver, Colorado to Mike & Virginia Young. He was the beloved husband to Nonnie Young for almost 67 years. Jack and Nonnie had 4 children, one who welcomed his father in heaven on Monday, Oct 7th. He is preceded in death by his parents Mike and Virginia (Fox) Young and his brother Doug Young.
In addition to Nonnie, Jack is survived by his brother, Bill (Ann) Young of Monument, CO, and children, Mark (Michelle) Young of Greeley, CO, Kathy (Charlie) Connor of Lakewood, CO, and Mike (Joy) Young of Clancy, Montana. They were blessed with 11 grandchildren including Melissa Young of Greeley, CO, Mitchell (Leigh) Young of Pittsburgh, PA, Mackenzie Young of Pittsburgh, PA, Megan (Joe) Coffey of Severance, CO, Jordan (Drew) Anderson of Denver, CO, Haylee (Collin) Gates of Denver, CO, Dylan Young of Bozeman, MT, Ryan Young of Bozeman, MT, Devyn Young of Salt Lake City, UT, Nicole (Larry) Jones Chandler, AZ and Michelle (Don) Larson of Washington, DC, as well as 12 great-grandchildren.
Family was incredibly important to Jack and remains a large part of his legacy.
Much of Jack’s earlier days in Colorado were spent in Greeley and Ft Collins. During the later part of his youth, he lived in Laramie, Wyoming where he graduated from High School. Jack attended ACU for 3 years before transferring to University of Wyoming in 1958 to complete his senior year. Just prior to this transfer, Jack and Nonnie were married. Jack feels that ACU made a substantial contribution to his life … 3 years of good Christian education and an outstanding wife.
Following graduation, Jack came to Littleton, Colorado as a coach for 6 years. During that time, he worked for one year for Martin and Company which constructed the Titan Missiles. Jack then spent 1 year in El Paso, Texas as the Educational Director for one of the churches. He then returned to coaching in Lakewood and served in that capacity for 8 years. That work was interrupted for one year when Jack went to Abilene Christian University as a football coach and athletic business manager. Jack retired from coaching in 1976 and became an insurance agent and was promoted to a Vice President over 8 states. Jack retired in 2017 after serving 41 years in the insurance profession. Jack touched the lives of many people through his singing, teaching, counseling, and his love for the Lord. The family would like to thank their neighbors, friends, and church for the loving respect and care they dedicated to Jack over the years. A special thanks is also extended to the Village at Belmar Memory Care Center and Brighton Hospice for their assistance in closing the curtain on a remarkable life with dignity and comfort.
