Jacke Ann (McGuire) Lazo slipped the bonds of cancer on July 26, 2010. She is survived by her loving husband Kent Lazo; daughters Jerra Holford Ryan (Mike), Kristie Lee (Frank) Holford-DeLay; step-daughters Suzi Lazo (David Newkirk) and Sandra Lazo-Layton; step-sons Jeff (Jill) and Chris Lazo; eight grandchildren: Sean Holford Ryan, Kelcey Ann Ryan, Madelyn Cecily Ryan, Shannen Lee Ryan, William John DeLay, Ethan James DeLay, Liz-E Lazo, and Tommy Kent Newkirk. She was preceded in death by her mother Alethea Evangeline (Gunderson) McGuire and father Jerry J. McGuire. She had one sister, Jerra Washburn, and a cousin she loved like a sister, Cheryl A. Jolly. Jacke was an adventurous spirit and enjoyed amateur paleontology, having volunteered for the dinosaur museum in Casper, Wyoming. One of her happiest moments was seeing the Supersaurus (with whom she spent countless hours prepping) nicknamed Jimbo, completed and erected in Thermopolis, Wyoming. The BigHorn Basin Foundation recently gave the name ïéé½Jackeïéé½ to a stegosaur that came from the ïéé½Jimbo siteïéé½ near Douglas, Wyoming, where she went to dig for many years. Jacke was a proud Republican and loved her country with fierce patriotism and honor. She knew what she believed in and was not afraid to stand for those beliefs, including many trips to defend our border in Arizona. Above all, however, Jacke was most proud of her grandchildren and cherished spending time with them and watching them grow. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010, 10:00 AM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), Centennial, Colorado 80122.
