Jacob Foos, 97, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away January 28, 2014. He was born June 22, 1916 in Gill, Colorado to Peter and Elizabeth Miller Foos. Jacob married Ruth Boggess on May 18, 1944. She preceded him in death November 26, 2004. Jake served in the Army Air Force in communications during World War II. He spent time in the Philippines and while there, accidentally ran into his brother, Herbert, who was stationed on the opposite side of the island! He was honorably discharged in January of 1946. In 1947, he and Ruth moved to Brighton, CO. Every year Jake took the family on a road trip vacation to either Illinois or Washington State to visit family. These vacations were always fun, something to remember and involved lots of family. Jake was a mechanic for 30 years for P.I.E. in Denver repairing the big trucks. He was also the family mechanic for kids and grandkids. He enjoyed building things, tinkering with cuckoo clocks, playing pinochle, doing crossword puzzles and later doing word search puzzles. He also liked to dance the polka and fox trot. He was a good sport and liked a good laugh! He was definitely a family man and always enjoyed spending time with his family. Jacob is survived by their two children, Diana R. (husband, Dan) Pollard, Brighton; Larry J. (wife, Nancy) Foos, Thornton; six grandchildren, Logan Pollard (wife, JoAnn), Amanda Pacheco (husband, Marcelino), Jason Foos, Alan Foos, Philip Foos, and Chad Foos ; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Foos, Jayden Foos, Jace Foos, Grant Pollard and Hayden Pollard; and a sister, Mary Moore (age 101). He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Herbert and Herman Foos. A Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 11:00am, at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Area ""A"", 3698 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO. Anyone is welcome to come.
