Jacob (Jake) J. Gallik, 89, Denver, Colorado, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 3, 2022 at the Montage Hills Nursing Home in Denver, Colorado.
Born June 19, 1932 in Bayfield, Wisconsin to Jacob and Anna (Petras) Gallik and grew up on the Ino family farm which kept him busy with all the farm chores and probably some mischief as well. Jake is survived by loving wife Susan, married for 67 years. Sons Michael (Kim), Denver, Colorado, Joseph (Barbara), Firestone, Colorado, and David (Theresa–deceased), Denver, Colorado. Grandchildren Keegan, Kyle, Caitlin, and Simone (John). Many nieces and nephews who looked up to Jake with much admiration and affectionately called him “Uncle Jeep”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Robert and Frank and sister Betty.
Jake served in the US Navy and US Air Force and retired after 28 years of service to his country taking his wife and family to numerous duty locations around the world. After serving in the military, Jake went on for a second career as a teacher for the Aurora Colorado Public Schools teaching the Heating and Air Conditioning Service program at Pickens Technical College in Aurora, Colorado where he developed many friendships with other teachers and students. While teaching school Jake completed his Masters of Education Degree at Colorado State University.
Jake enjoyed fishing, reading, and spending time helping his community where he and Susan volunteered their time at the Children’s Hospital of Aurora. Jake was always one who would eagerly help out his family and friends.
