James Harold Bailey, age 87, died surrounded by loved ones at his home on the 8th of November. Jim was born June 7th,1933 in Colfax, Iowa.
He lived in Granby, Colorado until he was five years old at which point, he and his family then moved to Denver, Colorado. When he was ten years old, he was a caddy at Denver Country Club where he caddied for Babe O’Hara. He began doing concrete when he was sixteen years old. Jim was drafted into the service at the age of eighteen. He was stationed on the border of North and South Korea during the Korean War. In 1955 he was honorably discharged with National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Jim met his wife, Fay Bailey, in 1957 on a blind date. The two got married August 9th, 1958. Soon after they started a family and their own concrete business. Jim and Fay had four children, Frank, Keith, Debra and Cynthia. They have five grandchildren, Michael, James, Alea, Dante, and Adrianna and three great-grandchildren, Valentino, Bronson and Charlize. Jim is preceded in death by his mother Rose, his father Joe, and his siblings Hazel, Bob, Beverly and Donnie.
A visitation for Jim will be held at Horan & McConaty, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, on Thursday, November 12th, from 1 to 2pm. There will be a Graveside Service at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday, November 13th, at 9:00 in the morning.
