James ""Jim"" Ballard

June 8, 1936 — January 3, 2013

Devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, Colorado native, born salesman and philanthropist son of Richard and Cyrilla Ballard, passed away January 3, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 76. Jim attended East High School and Colorado State University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He met Kitsie, his beloved wife of 50 years while serving in the Army as a Private First Class. Jim enjoyed a 34 year career with the 3M Company working as Senior Account Representative in the Hardware Division. He won may rewards trips before retiring in 1996. Jim was also very active and especially proud of his work with the Phi Delts at Colorado State, establishing a yearly scholarship in his name. Additionally he was also very active member on the El Jebel Shrine where he enjoyed the fellowship and the philanthropic work the Shriners do. Jim is survived by his wife Kitsie, his daughters Cy Zack and her husband Marty of Cincinnati, Ohio and Cindy Tucker and her husband David, his grandchildren Caraline and Charlie Zack and Sam and Kate Tucker and his brother John Ballard of Los Altos Hills, California. Donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, C/O El Jebel Shrine, 4265 West 50th Avenue in Denver, CO 80212 or to Alzheimer's Association – Denver Chapter, 455 Sherman Street in Denver, Colorado 80203. A visitation for friends and family will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 from 3-6 PM at Horan & McConaty (5303 East County Line Road) in Centennial. A Funeral Celebration of Jim's life will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 10 AM at the Christ Episcopal Church, 2950 South University Boulevard in Denver.
