James Barbier

May 31, 1962 — August 4, 2018

Jay, 56, beloved husband of Bonnie, brother of Stuart, son-in-law of Lupe Perea, brother-in-law of Teddy and Tony Sanchez, Hope and Raul Resendez, Rachel and Zack Meeker, Phillip Moralez, and David Spear, died in an accident on Saturday, August 4, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jacqueline, and father, James. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends, who benefited from his loyalty, kindness, and generosity.

Jay graduated from Midland High School in 1980 and moved to Colorado to attend the Denver Automotive and Diesel College, graduating from the Advanced Diesel Fuel Injection and Engine Program after completing the Automotive/Pre-Diesel Program. After graduation, he began his 34-year career working for the Wagner Equipment Company in Aurora, most recently as an award-winning Technical Communicator.

He loved working on his Harleys, a hobby that resulted in many close friendships, including Ian Young, Sam and Jackie Longest, and Todd and Donna Peery, among others. He was also close to his neighbors, including Rob and Karen Martin, Cass and Rudy Rodriguez, and Lloyd Butler. His love and friendship were true treasures to cherish.

The funeral will take place on Monday, August 13, at 11:00 a.m., at the Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, followed by internment at the St. Simeon Catholic Cemetery, 22001 East Highway 30, Aurora, and a gathering at the Frontier Club.
