James R. Black

January 10, 1956 — August 9, 2011

Jim, 55, of Thornton, Colorado passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 after a valiant battle with cancer. One of Jim's biggest loves in life (a close decision next to The Beatles) was his family. Survivors include his wife of 34 WONDERFUL years, Pamela; daughters, Erin, Kristi (her husband, Ryan), and Julia; three adoring grandchildren, Taylor, Kiley and Kaiden, with an additional expected arrival due early next year; sister, Margie Reeves and her family; extended family; many friends and colleagues. Preceded in death by his parents. Jim enjoyed spending time in the mountains, camping with his family and watching Rockies baseball during the summer season. An avid fan, Jim could be found cheering on the Denver Broncos during football season. Jim may be best known for his love of music, especially the rock and roll greats, but mostly The Beatles. A great man, he will be missed, yet always remembered. Jim's family will honor his life at a Memorial Service on Friday, September 2, 2011, 2 PM, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, in Thornton, Colorado. A reception will be held immediately following; if you are interested in assisting the family with an item for the reception, please contact Kristi at lovejimmy4ever@gmail.com. Contributions may be made to The Jimmy Black Memorial Fund available at any 1ST Bank location. The family invites you to share memories of Jim, especially for his young grandchildren, and condolences by selecting the ""sign guestbook"" option below.
