James William Blick, beloved husband of Caye, caring and loving father of Samuel and Damon, passed away September 29, 2015 at the age of 74 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. He is also survived by brothers Kenneth (Ann), William (Debbie), and Edward; sisters Carol and Mary (Tom); step-daughters Tracey and Jennifer; step-grandchildren Nathan, Katherine and Sarah. Brother Dennis and sister Jeanette preceded him in death. James was born April 22, 1941 to William and Agnes (Klausner) Blick. Early years were spent on a large wheat farm established by his pioneer grandfather near Roggen, Colorado. James greatly enjoyed being part of the large Klausner-Blick farming community comprised of many siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins and learned the value of hard work in this community. James attended Mullen, a Christian Brothers boarding school, through High School. At Mullen he was a member of the football and boxing team.James continued his love of football as a member of the University of Northern Colorado team. He graduated with a BA in Education (later obtained a MBA from Regis) and upon graduation was a High School teacher and football coach at Valley High in Albuquerque for a few years. Upon returning to live in Denver he became a lifelong Denver Bronco fan and season ticket holder. It was not uncommon to see him Saturdays at Folsom Field enjoying the Buffs and Sundays at Mile High Stadium. Throughout his life James was active in sports whether watching or participating. He played tennis, loved to ski the runs of the Colorado Rockies, ride his 10 speed, and in later years ride his beloved Harley and play golf. While living in northern California he became an avid San Francisco Giants baseball fan. James retired at age 60 after a thirty year career with Public Service Company (now Excel Energy). Upon retiring, James, with his wife Caye, traveled extensively in their motorhome for seven years. His favorite trip was the six months spent in Alaska where they hiked, fished, boated and explored the great outdoors. They also enjoyed multiple trips to Hawaii and the Caribbean. Due to his health, they were forced to stop traveling and settled in northern California in 2008 near his wife's family. He was residing in Auburn, California at the time of his death. James will be forever in our heartsâ¦missed and loved every day. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 beginning at 11:00 in the morning at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue in Aurora. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
