James R. Seaver, Lieutenant Colonel

Lieutenant Colonel James R. Seaver (Retired), 82, of Jefferson County, Colorado, passed away April 29, 2018. Born in Chicago, IL, he was a son of the late Colonel Robert S. Seaver and Alice H. Seaver. A distinguished Military Graduate and alumnus of the University of Wisconsin (Madison), he served as an Infantry Officer in the U.S. Army for twenty-one years, including two years in Vietnam. During his military service, Jim was awarded the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Star Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Ranger Tab, and Parachute Badge, along with other U.S. and foreign recognition. Following military retirement, he was a planner with the State of Colorado Emergency Management agency, where he was recipient of the Governor’s Service Award. He is survived by his sister, Mary, of Buffalo Grove, IL, and brother, Robert, of Knoxville, TN. Jim was a member of the Wisconsin Alumni Association, the Military Officers Association of America, and the Wilson Lakes (Florissant, CO) Sports Association. A Reception is scheduled from 6:30PM to 8PM, Friday, May 4, 2018 at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd. in Lakewood, CO, and will be followed at a later date by inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or American Red Cross (Mile High Chapter).
