James E. Danenhauer

April 29, 1932 — June 1, 2018

James (Jim) Edward Danenhauer of Aurora, Colorado passed away on June 1, 2018 in his home surrounded by loved ones. Visitation to be held on June 5, 2018 from 9:00 to 10:30 am at Horan and McConaty Chapel 11150 East Dartmouth, Aurora CO with funeral services to continue at 11:00 am. Services conducted by Peggy Auten, Hospice Chaplain of Compassus. Burial will follow on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Fort Logan National Cemetery Staging Area “B” at 1:30 pm. Jim was born on April 29, 1932 to Carl and Mary Danenhauer in Clay Center, Kansas, he was the second of five children, and grew up on the family farm. He graduated high school from Clay County Community High School. He graduated from Pittsburgh State College, Pittsburgh, Kansas in 1959 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education, and from Pittsburgh State College with a Master’s in Education in 1963. Jim served as a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force from December 21, 1951 to December 20, 1955. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal. and Occupational Medal (Germany). Following his military service and college education, Jim loved his work teaching higher math and drafting to high school students for 30 years, mostly in Jeffco County CO. Throughout his career, Jim received many awards for Outstanding Teacher of the Year. Many of his students would recognize him around town and stop to reminisce years after he retired. He also worked for Coors Brewing Company in Public Relations in Golden CO for 30 years, which he never thought of as a job because he enjoyed it so much. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mary Danenhauer, sister Carolyn Baird, two sons, Kelly Danenhauer and Greg McCracken, and niece Wendy Danenhauer. Jim is survived by his wife Fran, children Scott Danenhauer, Geoff Danenhauer and wife Danielle, Anna Hartley and husband Harold (Fuzz), Stephanie Lambert, Brent McCracken and wife Karen, brothers, Bill (Aggie), Eldon (Linda), and Jerry (Joey). Grandchildren, Amy McCracken, Danny Gibbens, Steven Griffin, Jesse DeArment, Lee Gibbens, Grace Gibbens, Christian Hartley, Victoria McCracken, Jordan McCracken, Dillon Hartley, Dustin Hartley, Lucy Danenhauer, Jarod Hartley, Austin McCracken, Savannah Danenhauer. and Caleb Hartley. Numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends. Pallbearers will be Lee, Christian, Dustin, Jarod, Caleb, Austin, Ted Baird, and Bill Danenhauer Jr. Jim was the pillar and strength of his family: teaching, guiding, advising, encouraging, and teasing. There are no words to express how much he was loved, and how much he will be missed. Please give your condolences to the Danenhauer Family.
