James ""Jim"" Waldo Dupler Jim passed away peacefully at his home on March 19, 2015. Jim was born on March 14, 1947 in Beechwood, Indiana, to Margaret and Russell Dupler. Jim's family moved to Miami, Florida when Jim was 14 years old. In Florida, Jim enjoyed surfing, listening to the music of The Beach Boys, and sports. In high school, Jim was a member of the wrestling team. Jim was drafted into the Army in 1966. After basic training, he served in Viet Nam. He was involved in combat during the war and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. After his tour of duty in Viet Nam, Jim was stationed at Fort Sill Army Base in Lawton, Oklahoma. He became an expert in Pershing missiles and taught American and German soldiers how to operate the missiles. While in Lawton, Jim met Sora, the woman who was to become his wife. They were married on May 12, 1980. They enjoyed a happy and loving relationship for over 35 years. Jim served in the Army for 20 years and retired with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. Jim continued to serve his country, working both for the federal government and later for the State of Colorado. Jim and Sora moved to Colorado in 1998. In Jim's last job, he worked for the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety for the State of Colorado. He retired from that job in early February of this year. Jim was a very positive person with a strong work ethic. Jim got along well with all kinds of people including his colleagues at work, his students, and his family. Jim's family remember him as a kind, gentle, patient, fair and just man. They also remember him as a good family man who loved his family and provided for them. When he wasn't working in his professional life, Jim enjoyed working around his house and property, especially working in the garden and the yard. Jim and Sora also keep chickens and Jim enjoyed his little farm. Jim also enjoyed watching sports, especially the Denver Broncos. Jim loved living in Colorado, but most of all he loved his family. Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Sora Dupler; his sons James H. Dupler (Martina), Vincent Dupler, and John Dupler; a brother Richard Dupler; a niece Soeni Lamb (Joshua); and many other supportive family members and friends. A Memorial Service to remember, honor, and celebrate the life of James Waldo Dupler will be held on Thursday March 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Horan & McConaty Mortuary Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014.
