James (Jim) Flood passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in the company of his family in Grand County, Colorado. Jim was 65 years old. Jim was born in Kansas City, Missouri on December 2, 1950. Jim grew up in Leawood, Kansas with his younger brother David (Dave) Flood. As a high school student, Jim worked at Milgram's grocery store to save money to pay for his pilot's license which he received at age sixteen. Jim continued his love for flight at the United States Air Force Academy and later went on to study engineering at the University of Kansas where he met his wife, Patricia (Trish). Jim graduated from University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He later received his Master of Engineering from University of Colorado. Jim and Trish Flood made their life in Colorado where they raised two children, Rachel and Alex. Jim fell in love with the mountains where he learned to ski and where he later taught his children to ski. His work as water treatment engineer took him all over world, but Colorado was always home. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia, children Rachel (Flood) Doniger and Alex Flood, son-in-law Scott Doniger, daughter-in-law Shannon (Moseley) Flood, granddaughters Aileen and Olivia Doniger, and brother, David Flood. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aileen and Benjamin Flood. Jim devoted his professional life to making sure people all over the world had access to a clean and safe water supply.
