James Edward Freeman

June 1, 1935 — October 22, 2020

Jim Edward Freeman passed away peacefully at his home on October 22nd, 2020, at the age of 85.

Anyone that crossed paths with Jim knew what a kind soul he was. Jim never knew a stranger. He could light up any room with his infectious smile. He taught everyone around him about the power of a positive mind.

Jim was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to his mother and father Mary Ann and James Fee on June 1, 1935. He was the oldest of 5 siblings, Burdette, Everette, Judy and Ken.

He married Sandy, the love of his life on December 20th, 1969. Together, they have shared a life full of love and adventure.

Jim was a man of many hats! Whether he was working as an organizational consultant at NASA, setting up free trade agreements in the United Arab of Emirates, marshaling the the critical transport of America’s nuclear waste, working as a news anchor, serenading couples on their wedding day, playing the lead role in Brigadoon, helping his bride with her art shows, teaching at Denver University or raising his children, he lived every day with integrity and positivity. Above all he always showed kindness.

He is survived by his beautiful bride of 51 years, Sweet Sandy, his children Ames Freeman and Amanda O’Connor and their spouses, Shawna Freeman and Steve O’Connor. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Luke and Delaney Freeman, Maddy and Brogan O’Connor, his sister and brother Judy Moss and Everett Fee, and his sister and brother-in-law Patty O’Malley and Mike O’Malley.

Jim’s ashes will be spread at Nymph Lake where he proposed to his bride Sandy 51 years ago.
