James Elmer Friesen

James Elmer Friesen passed away on August 30, 2023, at his home with family and friends by his side. He was born in Imperial NE on November 22, 1941, to Gustav and Elma Friesen. He was the youngest of three children.

Preceded in death were his parents and brother Lowell Friesen (Carol)and sister Delpha DeKoekkoek (Chuck). He was raised on a farm near Madrid, NE where he attended Madrid Public Schools. He graduated in 1965 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney where he majored in business administration. He left NE after college and moved to Denver where he was employed by the First National Bank of Denver from 1966-1973. During his banking career he was in the Air Force Reserves and was called up to actively serve from 1968-1969. After his banking career he was with Tony Lama Boot Company from 1973-1990 as a Sales Representative, National Account Executive, and then a move to El Paso, TX as Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. After returning to Denver, he earned his Real Estate Brokers License and was in the building management business in the Cherry Creek area until his retirement in 2018.

He was married to his wife Janet for 48 years. They have two daughters, Jennifer Ahlerich (Jeff) and Jessica Berumen (Bryan).

Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, golf, anything to do with cars, and his dog Lucy. Most of all he loved doing anything with his family. He was a wonderful husband and father and loved them with a special love. They took many trips together and he mostly loved car trips. Many good memories were made by traveling. He was a kind sweet man with integrity who loved God, his family, and his country. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Godspeed Jim! Your journey here on earth is over and you're in the arms of Jesus!

Graveside Service will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, October 3 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver.

In lieu of flowers Memorial gifts may be made to Faith Church in Arvada or Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden.
