Dr. James M. Griffin, local podiatrist and long time Littleton resident, died January 7, 2017, at the age of 75 from complications of a lung disease following a recent hip fracture. During his final moments he was surrounded by his loving daughters. Jim was born February 22, 1941, in Revere, Massachusetts to William Francis and Mary Clare (Donahue) Griffin, the 5th of their six children. His family had many moves during his childhood, before settling in Aurora, Illinois where he attended high school. Following his pre-med studies, Jim graduated from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in June of 1966. He moved to Colorado in September of 1966 to open his podiatry practice and to start roots with his young family. Professionally, Jim was known as a skilled and caring podiatrist who developed many lasting relationships with his patients. He took his time and listened carefully to their needs. He practiced podiatric medicine in Colorado for close to 50 years. He is survived by his four daughters(and son-in laws): Jennifer (Brad) Walker, Jeanne (Mike) Griffin, Julie (Jason) Garside, and Jill (Mark) Eilers; his grandchildren: Josh, Paige, and Sarah Walker, Sam, Nick, and Jake Eilers, Max and Cole Garside; his siblings (and their spouses): Norma Neulip, Mary (Earl) Ormiston, William (Carol) Griffin, Tom Griffin. Jim's favorite pursuits were woodworking, singing, camping, and fishing. About 15 years ago, he joined Swallow Hill Music Hall after a renewed interest in guitar. They asked him to join the choir which led to many happy years of singing. His final years were spent with a small group called ""The Choralary"". His biggest joy was his family. He had many precious times in his later years with his family and his grandchildren at sporting events, school events, holiday gatherings, family dinners, and many memorable camping trips. Jim's family will remember him for his warm smile, his great sense of humor, his hard work, his dedication to his family, his gentle soul, and for being the best Father/Grandfather we could ask for.
