James Russell Herd

James Russell Herd, 96, died in Lakewood on July 17, 2003. Jim, born in Lawrence, Kansas on June 29, 1907, worked 35 years for Armour & Co., where he introduced Dial Soap in the 1950's. He later became President of Capitol City Products, Columbus, Ohio, and a vice-president of Stokely Van Camp. Jim resided in Colorado since 1998. He was a 32nd degree Mason. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy, and his son, Gene. He is survived by his daughter, Shirley Ewing of Manitou Springs, and Suzanne Mencer of Littleton, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in Lawrence, Kansas.
