James Harvey Johnson, known to family and friends as Jim, age 65, passed away from a heart attack in the early morning of April 25, 2021.
Jim was born on October 17, 1955, in Denver, Colorado. He was the second child of George and Viola Johnson and grew up in Englewood, Colorado. He attended Englewood High School where he competed in wrestling and cross country sports. After high school, Jim completed certification courses and earned an Associates Degree in Electronic and Digital Technology, graduating with Dean’s List honors. After college, Jim began working in electronics repair and maintenance. In 1978, Jim married Karen Makey, and their 30-year marriage produced two sons and many memories. Jim was active in his church, Littleton Baptist Church, where he helped serve in AWANA and Sunday School programs, as well as multiple other volunteer roles.
Jim will be remembered for his faith, his love for family, music, good movies, and his ability to tinker and fix almost anything. He had a love for computers that he passed onto his children and grandchildren. Jim enjoyed camping, hiking, and encouraging a love of nature and outdoor activities in both family and friends.
Jim is survived by his two sons, Joshua (married to Jalesa) and Douglas (married to Laura); his four grandchildren, Ella, Tyler, Caleb, and Lexie; his brother, Greg (married to Karen); his sisters Janie, (married to Mike) and Janel. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, George and Viola Johnson and his brother George Johnson, Jr.
The Memorial Service in remembrance of Jim will be held on Friday, May 7th, 2021 at 11:00 am at The Mountain Wilderness Memorial Park, 120 Arapaho St, Woodland Park, CO 80863. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a reception hosted by Jim’s family at 1:30 pm the same day at Mountain Springs Church, 7345 Adventure Way, Colorado Springs, CO 80923.
