James Lazar, Jr.

James Lazar passed away peacefully on April 10, 2023 at the age of 84.

James Lazar, known as Jim or Butch to his family and friends, was born in Buffalo, NY in 1938.

Jim lived in Jamestown, NY with his parents and two older sisters until he was five years old. The family lived in various places, including Tucson, AZ. He moved with his parents to Colorado when he was 17 years old, where he met and married his wife of 58 years, Sharrene Rae Gumm. They married in June of 1962, raising three children in their home in Lakewood, Colorado. They have four grandsons.

Sharrene preceded him in death on March 29, 2021. Jim served in the Air Force from July 1956 to July 1960.

Jim enjoyed gold panning and loved to show off the gold dust he discovered in the rivers. He loved motorcycles, and owned his own motorcycle shop. His pride-and-joy was his 1981 red Corvette.

With his wife, Sharrene, Jim bowled on a weekly league, danced at Square Dances and visited the casinos, where he liked to beat the odds at the craps table.

Together they traveled, taking cruise ships, airplanes, or road trips to various locations, including Italy and Australia.

Jim is survived by his three children: Denise, Jimmy, and Michael (Beth), and four grandchildren: Sam, Michael, Christopher, and Brady.

FUNERAL:  Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227.

Graveside Service, Tuesday, April 25, 2023, 1:00 p.m., Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Avenue, Denver, CO 80033

An open visitation will be held for 2 hours prior to the service.
