James âJimâ Leeper, Jr., age 85, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2018 at Brookdale Lakewood Memory Care. He was born May 11th, 1932 to James F. Leeper and Mary Northcut Leeper in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Jim was a very unique human being. He excelled in high school as an athlete and was All State in Baseball and Basketball. He served his country during the Korean War receiving the âDistinguished Flying Crossâ and two air medals for outstanding bravery. After serving in the military, he returned to collegiate life and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1957 with a degree in accounting. He played baseball for O.U. and turned down a prospective offer to play pro-baseball in order to get his Accounting Degree. He practiced as a Certified Public Accountant for 40 plus years in Dallas, Texas, and loved what he did through his work with his clients. Jim loved the Lord, his family, âOUâ, Baseball, Golf, Diet Coke, and chocolates. He was an ardent admirer of Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln. He had an exceptional âwill to liveâ, surviving an infant illness, combat in Korea, a horrific plane crash, and finally a battle with dementia. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary; daughters Pamela Shackelford and husband Kerry Shackelford, Debbie Campbell and husband Chuck Campbell; his son Steve Leeper and wife Lori Leeper; grandchildren Maddie Shackelford, Sydney Shackelford, Christian Shackelford, Will Campbell, Kyle Campbell, Kate Campbell, Nathan Demers, Danielle Hicks; and great-granddaughter Lillian Mae Hicks.
