James Legas was born December 14, 1922 in Manchester, New Hampshire to George and Anna Legas, who were factory workers at Amoskeag Textiles. They later moved to New Boston, Ohio to open a restaurant.
Jim graduated from high school in New Boston then the family moved to Portsmouth, Ohio. He went to Ohio State University for one year then WWII broke out and he was drafted and served in the US Army Air Corp and was discharged in March of 1946.
Jim then continued his education, graduating from OSU in August 1948 with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and went to work at the Bureau of Reclamation in Denver, Colorado.
Jim retired from the Bureau in 1979, after 31 years, and then worked as a consultant on dam design projects internationally until 1993.
He married Dolores Cordova in December of 1967 and were together until her death in December of 2010.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2022, 4pm-7pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood.
Trisagion will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2022 starting at 12pm, followed immediately by Office of the Burial of the Dead. Both to be held at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 5555S. Yosemite Street, Greenwood Village, Colorado
Burial will be at 2:15pm, Wednesday August 31, 2022, Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area C.
In lieu of flowers family wishes donations to the church.
