James W. Lowden

November 7, 1928 — March 26, 2013

Jim (Red) Lowden was born November 7, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois. He joined his ""gal"" in heaven on March 26, 2013. Jim has always been proud of his Scottish heritage, his upbringing, his service to his country and his family. His father immigrated to America in 1911. His mother followed in 1927, eventually landing in Forest Park area of Illinois. He was raised during the depression. He served his country after graduating from Proviso High School in 1946; serving in the US Navy from 1946 to 1953; 2 years active and 5 years inactive reserve. He married Phyllis Southern in July, 1954, who preceded him in death, in 2011. Jim and his family enjoyed several years participating in Scottish pipe bands, The Black Watch of Denver and the Denver City Pipe Band. He is survived by his five children, Bill, Bob, George, Jay and Kay, as well as, their spouses, 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 6 others that he and Nanny babysat and knew him as Papa, and many wonderful friends. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Felice, as well as, a sister in-law, Sammie Cody and many loving nieces and nephews. Jim will be greatly missed for his keen mind and intellect, his great sense of humor and his loving heart; he'd give you his last five bucks if you needed it. We love you Dad/Papa and we'll see you soon, when we're all together again in heaven. Enjoy dancing with Mom until we meet again.
