“Knowing Jim, after December 5th Jesus had a new wardrobe in Heaven. By next week he will have a huge list of new friends.”

James Allen Lunsway, born on July 13, 1943, in Colby, Kansas, passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2024, in Parker, Colorado. He was the son of Arthur and Ruby (Verbena) Lunsway and the younger brother of Franklin Lunsway.

James grew up on a farm between Colby and Oakley, Kansas and attended school in Oakley, where he excelled in sports, playing football, basketball, and baseball in high school. His love for sports and his competitive spirit carried through much of his life. James' career journey began in the clothing business, where he became a partner at the Curiosity Shop in Oakley, Kansas. In 1973, he opened his own clothing store, Mr. Jim's His Shop, in Goodland, Kansas. He also became a partner in The His Shop men’s clothing store in Colby.

After a brief retirement, James transitioned to a career in finance, where he played an instrumental role in opening the Bennett, Colorado branch of FNB Bank in 2005. He continued to serve with the bank until his official retirement in March of 2024.

James was known for his deep commitment to his community, love of people and kind heart. He was a dedicated member of the Goodland Chamber of Commerce, serving as its president multiple times. His smile lit up a room and his generosity is a legacy that we will all carry with us.

His leadership extended beyond business, as he also coached his children, Kenny's baseball and Angie's softball teams while they were growing up.

James is survived by his beloved children, Angela Sue (Ralph) Borrello of Charlotte, NC, and Kenneth Arthur Lunsway of Aurora, CO, nieces Leisa Everhart and Penny Jackson of Palm Harbor, FL as well as his four cherished grandchildren, Emily, James, Caroline and Samuel Borrello of Charlotte, NC.
