James Michaels, of Denver, passed away May 23 at Porter Hospital. Born December 9, 1925 to Frank & Ester Michaels in Raton, NM. Raised & educated in Raton, James enlisted in the Navy in 1946 and served in WWII & the Korean Conflict. James married Eleanor H. Durakovich in Raton, NM in 1948. In the 1950s James worked as a conductor for the Santa Fe Railroad and then moved to Denver in 1956 and retired as a welder. He was also an avid trout fisherman. Survived by one daughter, Linda (Butch) Dick, Liberal, KS; sister, Clara Mauger, Denver, CO; niece, Beverly Porter, Raton, NM; nephew, Bobby Michaels, Cimarron, NM.
