James E. Millensifer, 82, of Denver, Colorado, a devoted husband and loving father, passed away December 17, 2017. He was born February 6, 1935 in North Denver to Walter E. and Helen R. Millensifer. Jim attended North High School where he began studying architecture. He graduated in 1953 and continued his studies at the University of Colorado, Boulder Campus where he became a Delta Upsilon fraternity member. Jim married Madalyn in June 1958 and graduated college 1959. Jim was a well-respected Architect throughout the Mountain States Region. First, with Claude Nash, then with Rogers Nagel Langhart, (RNL, Inc.). In 1978, he left to start his own firm(s) with Mountain Bell as one of his major clients. Some of these projects include the Century Link building at 1001 17th Street, the Avon & Elizabeth Exchanges. He received an award for the Curtis Park Exchange by maintaining the historical nature of the neighborhood. He is directly responsible for many designs of schools, churches and other buildings across the front range and the Denver Skyline. In 2001, Jim retired while working for the Jefferson County School District where he designed and remodeled various schools most notably Arvada High School & Prospect Valley Elementary School. James achieved the Boy Scout rank of Eagle in 1951 and the following year was very proud to earn the Order of the Arrow alongside his brother and father. Throughout his career he spent 18 years as a Board Member for Headstart - Child Opportunity, a program he felt passionate about. Jim almost achieved the âLife Long Donorâ recognition as a blood donor. James is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Madalyn Z. Millensifer; their son, Gregory; and his brother, Tom A. Millensifer. He is survived by children, Christopher (Ruth); Geoffrey (Marie) and Aimee Millensifer; grandchildren, Janine, Myra, Gregoria, Shane and Diego; and numerous relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2017, 4:00-7:00pm, at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3020 Federal Blvd., in Denver, CO. 80211 A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017, 10:00am, St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church, 4200 Federal Blvd., Denver, CO., followed by his burial at Mt.
